Centre Streeters

Over the years we have always been four or five members. In the beginning (1978) we all lived in Dover, MA. Now two of us are in Dover while the other three have settled north and south of Dover, meeting in the middle for rehearsals on Thursday nights.

Our band was concieved and formed by Bill Foehl, our dear friend who joined the heavenly band of angels way too soon. His spirit is still in our harmonies and friendship. He will always be with us.

Now we are five - three original members from the late seventies, plus two newer and incredibly talented members. Here's who we are.

Linda Foehl (bass and vocals): Linda (Bill's wife) puts her whole self into each song. When she sings, you live a bit of her life with her.

Will Swan (mandolin, guitar and vocals): One of the founding members, Will shares lead vocals with Putnam Murdock. Will has a voice so sweet, even old grab-and-stab vocals go down like warm butter. His strong guitar and mandolin pulses the group's instrumental lines.

Dock Murdock (dobro, banjo, guitar and vocals): Also a founding member of the band, Dock anchors the group with his crisp picking and warm bass voice - plus his commentary that brings lots of smiles.

Tim Roper (fiddle, harmonica and vocals): Tim joined the band fresh off the road from the touring rock band Acoustic Junction. Tim has taken some of the edges off of his rock chops but still commands the stage with his easy-going virtuosity that seems to flow right from the songs themselves.

Putnam Murdock (guitar, mandolin, banjo, vocals): A masterful musician in his own right, and Dock's son, Putnam has brought the musicality of the band to a level that we had never experienced. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Putnam and Tim are the "academics" of the band, translating theory and composition into a sound that brings our audiences to their feet.
